MESSENIA. Messene. Circa 180-150 BC. Hemiobol or Hexachalkon (Bronze, 21 mm, 8.75 g, 3 h). Diademed head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of grain ears. Rev. Zeus striding to right, holding thunderbolt in his right hand and eagle perched on his left arm; to left, monogram of ME above ΔI in wreath; to right, tripod. BCD Peloponnesos 713 (this coin). Grandjean 272a (this coin). Rare. Some flan faults on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
